Above and Beyond Sunday Morning...

Youth Groups and Activities

The Middle School Youth Group is for teens and tweens in the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grades. The group meets for social activities, service projects and more. Please call the church office at 203-245-2584 for the most up to date information on activities and to obtain a schedule. The group meets at least once a month for service, fellowship and the opportunity for more faith-filled fun! Some high school activities are open to older middle school students.

The High School Youth Group includes teens in grades 9 through 12. We enjoy hanging out together doing community service projects, learning about Christian spirituality, and getting to know each other better. Our group is a wonderful way for teens at St. Andrew's and their friends to get together with others their age in a safe and fun environment. St. Andrew’s actively participates in interfaith youth gatherings and service projects with other Madison churches. On the docket for this year is the annual homeless immersion overnight on the Madison Green in October, a progressive dinner with other Madison high school youth groups in November, Christmas caroling and cookie baking for shut-ins, skiing, the annual outdoor living Stations of the Cross, and the annual town wide overnight service trip to serve the homeless in New York City in the spring in addition to other activities. Please click here for the calendar of activities. Preparation for the annual summer mission trips is ongoing throughout the year.

High School Mission Trips!

St. Andrew’s participates actively in the annual diocesan (regional) mission trip to the capital city of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. This wonderful mission trip is an opportunity for high school students to live and work among the poor running a vacation Bible school for over 100 children living in the barrio of the northwest part of the city. The trip typically takes place in late June each year. Click here for information and forms related to this year's trip.

In addition, the high school youth group also participates in a US based mission trip - to the H.O.M.E. organization in Maine in past years - and more recently to Niagara Falls to serve the community in which they stay.

Vacation Bible School!

For nearly ten years, St. Andrew’s church school staff and teen volunteers have joined forces with First Congregational Church on the Green in Madison to run an ever-popular Vacation Bible School for kids pre-K through 8th grade. The pre-K program is led and designed by the St. Andrew’s pre-school staff, the K-4 program is typically co-directed by St. Andrew’s church school director and the church school director of FCC, and the middle school program (grades 5-8) is led by adult and teen volunteers from both churches. St. Andrew’s and FCC high school teens form the backbone of this staff - last year over 65 teens from both churches worked tirelessly to serve the over 150 children served during the week of VBS.

The middle school VBS program is a separately run program with mission, faith and adventure as its focus that meets at the same time as the younger kids. This energetic group typically enjoys a week of preparing and serving brunch to seniors at the senior center, an excursion to Hammonasset and a morning negotiating a high ropes course. Parent volunteers typically drive to the various locations.
